The most relevant offer at the top

We believe it is important that every visitor to bol has a pleasant shopping experience. That’s why we make sure the most relevant offer appears at the top of the page.
Our algorithm determines which items best match the keywords with which you want to be found. For this purpose, the algorithm looks at the click and purchase behaviour of our visitors. With this valuable information, we estimate the likelihood that customers will decide to click or buy an item. It is therefore important that you choose the right keywords.

Example

Does the data indicate that customers who search for ‘vacuum cleaner’ often choose a specific brand in the price range €300 to €400? Then these items get the highest score for this keyword. The more your item deviates from this, the lower the score.

How do you ensure that your product is relevant?

There are often multiple advertisers who want to advertise with the same keyword. So you also have to deal with competition. If your item scores the highest, you have a greater chance of getting to advertise with the keyword you have chosen. For this, we look at, among other things:

  • The name of your ad
  • Your item’s category and brand
  • The product description and the item’s other features

Your bid also determines the score

By bidding on a keyword, you have a chance to appear in customers’ search results.
You set a maximum bid and thus show how much you are willing to pay for each time someone clicks on your product. If the keyword is popular or includes expensive items, the price will automatically increase. An advantage: you only pay when someone clicks on your product.
