Mankind & Society

General environmental labels include social and/or environmental requirements. These may involve criteria related to water pollution, auxiliary substances, chemicals, the use of pesticides, decent working conditions, fair trade conditions for farmers, and contributing to global improvement.

Criteria

1. B Corp

B Corp is a certification for companies that have incorporated sustainability into their corporate mission, alongside profit, demonstrating their commitment to creating a better world. The B Corp certification is comparable to a fair trade label for coffee or the organic certification for organic products, but it is a label for companies. B Corp companies distinguish themselves in social and environmental aspects and are transparent about their practices

Criteria
If your company is a B Corp but is not yet known to bol.com, please contact Partner Service to update this information. Once your company is recognized as a B Corp, new products will be automatically included in the sustainable and responsible assortment.

2. Social Enterprises

These are businesses with a societal mission: to make the world a better place. They are not reliant on donations or subsidies. Every financial goal serves the mission. Additionally, they operate in a fair and transparent manner and pay attention to their ecological footprint. To ensure that an item is made by a social enterprise, we collaborate with social enterprises that are members of Social Enterprise NL. All products from members of Social Enterprise NL are labeled and added to the sustainable and responsible assortment.

Criteria
If you are a Dutch social entrepreneur, register as a social enterprise via social-enterprise.nl to be eligible for a sustainability label. If you are a Belgian social entrepreneur, registration as a Vennootschap met Sociaal Oogmerk (VSO) is sufficient. If you meet these criteria and are not yet recognized as a social entrepreneur by bol.com, please contact Supplier Service to make the necessary adjustments. Once your brand is recognized as a social enterprise, new products will be automatically included in the sustainable and responsible assortment.

3. Charities

Charity organizations work to address societal issues. A charity is considered a public benefit institution if it is dedicated to the public interest by at least 90%. It must not be intended to make a profit and must meet integrity requirements.

Criteria

To ensure that an item is offered by a charity, we verify if your organization is a member of CBF (Recognized Good Cause) or ANBI (Public Benefit Organization).

  • If your brand is from a charity and a member of CBF or ANBI, all items from that brand will be labeled and added to the sustainable and responsible assortment.
  • If your brand is from a charity and a member of CBF or ANBI but is not yet recognized by bol? please contact your contact person to make the necessary adjustments.
