For many (electronic) devices, it is legally required to include an energy label and a product information sheet in the product information of your items. This applies, for example, to smartphones, tablets, washing machines, and other devices subject to energy labeling requirements. In the list below, you will find all categories for which this obligation applies.
As a selling party, bol is legally required to display an energy label and specific product information for certain items. These documents provide insight into energy consumption as well as other relevant specifications and performance details. This helps consumers make informed choices. Therefore, this information must be provided for certain products.
Mandatory product information sheet
In addition to the energy label, sellers are often required to provide a product information sheet. This applies in any case to all items that require an energy label. This information sheet contains (detailed) technical data about the product, such as:
- Annual energy consumption
- Capacity (e.g. in litres or place settings)
- Noise level
- Consumption data
In addition to a digital version, suppliers are required to provide the product information sheet in physical form upon customer request.
What if I do not provide an energy label or product information sheet?
As a bol supplier, you are legally required to provide the energy label and/or product information sheet for items within the relevant product groups. Check whether both documents have been included. If something is missing or incorrect, the supervisory authority may contact you about this.
From April 1, 2026, bol will enforce these requirements for the existing assortment. If product information is missing, items will be taken offline in phases. From March 5, 2026, bol will enforce these requirements for new assortment. Items can only be published online if the mandatory product information has been completed.
What’s expected from suppliers and partners
