At bol, product safety is at the top of our priority list. Sometimes it’s necessary to actively inform customers about a possible risk or to take an item offline. Below, you can read more about what you may expect from bol, and what we expect from you.
Safety warning
A safety warning is an official notification that we send to customers about the risks of an item that is possibly malfunctioning or so damaged that it causes unsafe conditions. In severe cases, this may lead to a recall.
Have you noticed that an item is possibly unsafe? Then please contact our Partnerservice immediately. Provide them with the item number and a clear description of the risk. We’ll issue the warning together with you and make sure that it reaches the customer.
Launch a recall as a supplier
If an item you sell via bol is found to be unsafe or doesn’t meet legal safety requirements, you are obligated to launch a recall and remove the item from the platform as quickly as possible.
In that case, please contact your contactperson or Supplier services as soon as possible. We’ll ask you to provide the following information:
- Item details (item number, brand, model/type, etc.).
- Description of the risk or the damage.
Because you don’t have access to customer data due to privacy laws, we’ll contact the customer. Of course, we’ll keep you involved throughout the entire process and support you when necessary.
Recall from bol
If we hear, for example, through customer complaints or reports from official organisations, that an item may be unsafe, we can also organise a recall ourselves. In that case, we’ll contact you, inform the affected customers, and involve you in the further handling of the process.
