Fire extinguishers
All fire extinguishers sold via bol must meet the applicable laws and regulations in the Netherlands and Belgium. The Portable Fire Extinguishers Decree applies to the sale of items via our Dutch platform. This rule applies to all fire extinguishers up to 20 kg that are intended to easily extinguish fires.
No matter how small the fire extinguisher is, it must comply with this rule. Things to consider when selling a fire extinguisher:
- CE marking: Make sure that the fire extinguisher has a valid CE marking. A valid CE marking confirms that the fire extinguisher meets European regulations.
- Colour: The colour of the fire extinguisher must be red (RAL 3000).
- Inspection valid for 5 years: All fire extinguishers must be inspected before they can be sold on the Dutch and Belgian markets. That inspection is valid for 5 years. After this period, the inspection of the fire extinguisher expires, as does the serial number on the device. No more devices may be imported or sold under this number.
Safety detectors (smoke, carbon monoxide, heat, gas and combination detectors)
To protect the quality and safety of our range, it’s important that all safety detectors (smoke, carbon monoxide, heat, gas, and combination detectors) comply with European laws and regulations.
That’s why you can only sell safety detectors via bol that:
- comply with the relevant European safety standards. It’s important that this is also filled in at ‘Type of standard’ in the product information;
- have a Dutch manual that complies with European safety standards, both physically and digitally; and
- have been tested by a Notified Body (NB) in Europe.
CO detectors (carbon monoxide detector) must meet the following specific requirements:
- The name of the manufacturer, supplier or brand is clearly visible
- The name of the CO detector and model number are clearly visible
- Type of gas to be detected must be clearly visible
- The lifespan of the detector must be clearly visible
- The text: ‘Read the instructions’ in Dutch (also clearly visible)
In addition, the supplied Dutch manual must include explanations about:
- Placement and assembly
- The expected lifespan
- The test procedure
