Cannabidiol (CBD)
To sell items with CBD (Cannabidiol) to our customers (and their pets) safely, we’ve created additional guidelines. These guidelines apply in addition to the existing laws and regulations. For CBD for human consumption, you’re obligated to comply with the Food & Beverages policy.
CBD for human consumption
- CBD is a food supplement(a concentrated addition to normal food) and is therefore only allowed in the Supplements product group.
- Food and beverages with added CBD aren’t allowed to be sold via our platform.
Additional conditions:
- It’s mandatory to give CBD items a GDSN with GS1 registration. This makes it clear that the items fall under the food supplements category.
- More information about the GS1 registration in Belgium and the Netherlands.
- Active THC is not allowed and it’s mandatory to indicate how much THC is in an item. If you don’t indicate this correctly, it’s considered food fraud.
- CBD must be entered under the product feature ‘Type of herb or plant’. It’s also mandatory to enter a percentage under the product feature ‘THC content’.
- It’s not allowed to make medical or health-related statements about an item. If you make a claim, make sure it doesn’t violate this policy.
- The item may not contain an amount of active substances that categorises it under the Medicines Act. You can find more information about this here.
CBD for animal consumption
For the safety of our customers’ pets, it’s important to adhere to the following conditions:
- Only approved types of hemp may be present in CBD items for animals. Read more about this legislation.
- It’s mandatory to enter all the ingredients of the item in the designated product feature. These must be the same as the actual contents of the item.
