Copyright protects the creators of original creations, such as books, films, music, photographs, games, software (and many other forms of art). Copyright is the right of the creator of a written work, science, or art form to distribute, publish, and copy this work. Due to copyright laws, it isn’t permitted to offer items via bol that damage someone else’s copyright.

When does something fall under copyright?

Copyright exists on all creations, such as books, music, films, software, video games, paintings, drawings, photos, comics, graphic designs, architectural drawings, maps, and plans. Please note that this list is not exhaustive, copyright applies to many things. If a work is protected by copyright, another person may not use that work, or parts thereof, without the creator’s permission.

Exceptions may apply if a product that’s already been put on the market by the creator is resold. It’s your responsibility to check whether you have items in your range that may be protected by copyright.

Ask permission if necessary

If you aren’t the creator of, for example, a photograph, piece of music, game, or film, you must check whether permission is required for its use.
