The objective is simple: to ensure that only safe products are placed on the European market and that, if something unexpectedly goes wrong, consumers are assisted quickly and unsafe products are rapidly withdrawn from the market. Listing of the manufacturer and the responsible economic operator in the EU

The GPSR requires, among other things, that you add the details of the manufacturer and the EU responsible person, also referred to as the responsible economic operator in the EU, to your product listings on our platform.

Manufacturer

The GPSR requires the manufacturer’s details to be included with each product listing. The following information must be provided:

• The name, registered trade name, or registered trademark of the manufacturer
• The postal address where the manufacturer can be contacted
• The electronic address (email or direct link (URL) to an online contact form) where the manufacturer can be contacted

If the details of the responsible economic operator in the EU and the manufacturer are the same, these details must still be entered twice: once under the manufacturer and once under the responsible economic operator in the EU.

Soon, new products for which manufacturer details or responsible economic operator details in the EU are missing, will no longer be published online. This will apply to manufacturer details from 5 March 2026, and to responsible economic operator details in the EU from 1 April 2026. From 1 April, bol will also gradually take existing products offline if manufacturer details are missing.

Difference between the responsible economic operator in the EU and the manufacturer

The manufacturer is the party that manufactures a product, or has a product designed or manufactured, and markets it under their name or trademark.

The responsible economic operator in the EU (responsible person) is the party within the European Union responsible for compliance with certain legal obligations in relation to a product (for example: verifying that the product complies with the technical documentation, checking that the product has a type, batch, or serial number, and ensuring that the manufacturer’s details appear on the product). The responsible economic operator in the EU is also the first point of contact within the EU for authorities when they have questions about the product.

A manufacturer can be the responsible economic operator in the EU themselves if they are established within the EU. However, if the manufacturer is located outside the EU, another party (for example the importer, authorised representative, or fulfilment service provider) must take on this role.

Adding GPSR Product Information to Your Products

To add the required GPSR product information to your products, you can include the following fields in your content feed. It is important to copy these fields exactly into your feed, as the content feed is in Dutch:

• Fabrikant Adres
• Fabrikant Naam
• Elektronisch adres fabrikant
