For safety reasons, you can only offer folding knives via bol, such as Stanley knives and pocket knives. Axes are also allowed. By folding knives, we mean knives that you can make smaller using hinges or sliding movements. You fold the blade into the handle, so you can safely put it in your pocket. Non-folding knives include machetes (including those for gardening), daggers and hunting knives.
If you want to list knives in your range, we expect you to indicate in the attributes whether the knife is foldable. This must also be clearly visible in the first image.
Because these items are subject to legislation concerning safety for people and nature, we strictly check this policy.
Clarification and/or additional guidelines
It’s your responsibility as a supplier to know the Weapons and Ammunition Act if you’re selling a range that needs to take this into account.
To enforce the Weapons and Ammunition Act as effectively as possible, we’ve chosen to offer extra clarification and/or create extra guidelines within several categories:
The following items aren’t allowed for sale via bol:
- Butterfly knives / Balisong: It’s also not allowed to sell so-called training knives / trainers of this type via bol.
- Stiletto knives, also known as switchblade knives and flick knives: It’s also not allowed to sell so-called training knives / trainers of this type via bol.
- Knives that are ‘hidden’ by looking like an innocent item such as a pen, comb, bank card, etc: Also described as blank weapons that look like an object other than a weapon.
- Throwing knives and throwing stars (also known as shuriken, ninja stars): Including trainers. With the exception of fancy dress accessories that fall under the toy guideline and are therefore intended for children under the age of 14 in terms of target group.
