Definition

Or by saving raw materials through the use of recycled materials or a digital version.

Labels

The following labels can be assigned to items within this theme:

  • Second-hand: Items that get a second life with another owner, meaning they don’t need to buy a new item and new raw materials are saved.
  • Refurbished: Items that are restored to as-new condition by replacing parts, requiring fewer new raw materials overall.
  • Digital version: Items delivered digitally, saving significantly on raw materials compared to physical alternatives. The raw material savings during production are greater than the energy consumption during the usage phase.
  • Extends lifespan: Specific items that repair other items, allowing them to be used longer and reducing the overall need for new raw materials.
  • Repairable: Items that can be repaired by the user themselves, made possible by the manufacturer providing repair information and spare parts that remain available for a long time. Repairing saves raw materials needed to make a new product.
  • Min. 50% recycled: Items made from at least XX% previously used raw materials, reducing the need for new raw materials.
