Well begun is half done! First, read this general information.
Bol wants to accelerate sustainable consumption. Our ambition is to reduce the impact of our activities on the planet as much as possible. We do this, among other things, by packing and delivering our products as efficiently as possible. All the electricity we use comes from Dutch solar panels and wind turbines. But that doesn’t mean we’re there yet.
The retail industry is responsible for a significant percentage of global greenhouse gases, such as carbon emissions. We need to join forces to reduce these emissions. Although this may seem like a lot of work at first, it also offers us an opportunity to work together on reversing the effects of climate change. As part of the Science As part of the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), we are working with our parent company Ahold Delhaize to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout our supply chain. In that context, we’re looking forward to working with our suppliers to report progress annually.
As you, as our valued supplier, are playing a vital role in achieving our reduction goals, we’re asking you* to:
- Commit to the Near Term targets of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) by 31 December 2026. This commitment is an important step which will enable you to establish your own Science Based Targets and have them validated by SBTi within 24 months after making the commitment;
- Report 2024 scope 1-2-3 carbon emissions and emission reduction plans to Ahold Delhaize before 15 September 2026. The reporting is done through two questionnaires; CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) and a new bol questionnaire. By mid-June you will receive an invitation to one of the two questionnaires.
We understand that measuring and reducing carbon emissions is a new and evolving topic. With our climate hub we want to support you with information and tooling to start your reduction journey, or help you progress on your current climate reduction efforts. You will find new content and updates about our emission reduction program on this hub.
* These deadlines do not apply to our Not for Resale (NFR) suppliers; however, we kindly request that they also establish a science-based target and report on their CO2 emissions in the near future.
