All logistic shipping units delivered to bol.com must contact GS1 label(s) with the 'Serial Shipping Container Code', also known as the SSCC label. Read below what this means exactly. NB: On april 20th 2023 there was a new Excel file introduced.

How do you fill in the SSCC Excel file.

You can download the new Excel file in the SCP or find it here.

In the Excel file a few columns need to be filled in:

  • SSCC code
  • Internal reference
  • EAN
  • SKU
  • Quantity
  • Transport unit type

All the fields need to be filled in correctly, otherwise the Excel file will be denied and an error message will be displayed (all fields outside the SSCC column if you let the SCP create the SSCC codes).

1. SSCC code

There are two possibilities for the SSCC field

  • Own SSCC
  • The SCP generates the SSCC

If you have an own SSCC code you need to fill it in here. If the SCP generates the SSCC for you, then this field can remain empty.

2. Internal reference

In the Internal reference column you supply the information on which pallet or in which collo the specified article is. This can be done several ways:

  • Pallet 1 / Pallet 2 / Pallet 3
  • 1 / 2 / 3
  • Collo 1 / Collo 2 / Collo 3
  • 1 / 2 / 3

Please make sure that the way this column is filled in is consistent across the column.

3. EAN

Here you provide the EAN on which the article is known on bol.com.

4. SKU

Here you provide the internal reference, make sure this is the same internal reference that is used in the offerfeed.

5. Quantity

How much articles of the EAN you will be delivering.

6. Transport unit type

In this dropdown menu you provide which way the articles are shipped to the warehouse, this needs to be done for each article. Please make sure the spelling is the same as in the picture below if you don’t use the dropdown menu.

Once you finished the Excel file, save it and you can continue with the steps below.

Important!
  • Note! It is necessary to define the structure of the load carriers in the pre-notification.
  • You don't need to stick an extra shipment label, all the details bol.com needs are already on the SSCC shipment label.

Layout of the shipping label

All GS1 rules that the shipping label must comply with can be found on the GS1 web page. Consult this page for further explanation.

1. Desired label layout

  • At the top of the label clearly state the “From” (Return address) and “To”
  • In the centre of the label the SSCC code and packing list number
  • At the bottom of the label the SSCC barcode + separately written code
  • GS1-128 barcodes should be distinguished from Code 128 barcodes by the use of: the special function 1 character (FNC1) after the start character
  • Label format must be A5 or A6

2. The size of all text on the label must be at least 3 mm in size, note! We are not talking about "Font size" here but actual size

3. The size of the text in centre piece of the label (the SSCC code and packing list number) must be at least 7 mm in size and in UPPERCASE. Note! We are not talking about "Font size" here but actual size

4. Make sure your packing list is clearly stated on the label and also indicates that it is the packing list. Eg; PACKLIST: EXAMPLE BOL.COM123

5. When noting the SSCC code in the centre field of the label, it is important that it is also mentioned that it is an SSCC code. Eg; SSCC:081201201212102125

6. Barcodes on a GS1 label must meet a number of requirements:

  • The barcode should not be longer than 165 mm or 48 data digits.
  • We recommend a barcode height of at least 32 mm
  • The narrowest stripe of the barcode should be a maximum of 1.016 mm wide (x-dimension)
  • Silent areas should be at least 10 times X-dimension

Take a look at the example below of an A6 label that complies with GS1 and bol.com requirements à useful for compiling your own label. This is a label from a mono pallet. Naturally, mixed pallets can also be supplied.

Please note! The blue fields are obligatory for deliveries to bol.com
